Trip Description
We’re excited to be going to El Salvador this year on a missions trip over Spring Break! On this trip, we will partner with a ministry called Filter of Hope to distribute water filters to households of families who do not have access to clean drinking water. One filter can provide a family with clean water for 10 years! The water filters also provide a means for which we can share the gospel with those in the communities. We have a long-standing partnership with Filter of Hope, and during the trip, we are directed and cared for by several full-time Filter of Hope staff members who love Jesus and lead us well.
We will stay in La Libertad, El Salvador, with safe and comfortable accommodations. During the day, we will travel with Filter of Hope staff into impoverished communities.
Throughout each day, students will be grouped into small teams of 4-5 to hand out water filters door-to-door in local communities, while connecting with the people who inhabit these communities. On the last day, we have a free day where we will ride a boat on Crater Lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery. All meals will be provided, and the food (especially the coffee) is delicious. At night, we gather as a team and debrief the day, share stories, worship together, and spend time in the Word of God and in prayer.
Total Trip Cost: $1,756
Includes: Flights, ground costs, food, and lodging.
Does not include: any money that students wish to bring to purchase souvenirs, or any fees necessary for updating passports and such.

Sign-ups for both trips will happen October 1st, 2024, from 9am-5pm at the Onward Office (403 E Magnolia Ave). You must sign up in person. You may not sign up for your friends. If you are unable to make it to sign up during that time, you may sign up at the Onward Weekly Meeting (8pm in Langdon Hall). Spots on the trip are randomly chosen — it is not first-come-first-serve. If you get a spot on the trip, you will be notified through email. You will have until the following Monday (Oct. 7) to secure your spot by paying a $250 deposit. If you do not get one of the top 40 spots, you will be placed on a waitlist and you will be notified through email of where you sit on the waitlist. If anyone that gets one of the top 40 spots drops or fails to pay their deposit, the next person on the waitlist will move onto the list, and that person will be able to secure their spot by paying a $250 deposit.
